Third World Press Publishes For You, This Circle: Collected Poems by Aneb Kgositsile

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Chicago, ILJanuary 2025 — Third World Press proudly announces the publication of For You, This Circle: Collected Poems by Aneb Kgositsile (Gloria House, PhD), a definitive collection that spans more than five decades of poetry by the Detroit-based writer, educator, and activist.

Kgositsile’s poetry has long illuminated the intersections of personal memory, collective resistance, and cultural survival. This new volume includes collected and new poetry, offering readers a layered presentation of her artistry. With a voice at once tender and uncompromising, she writes of ancestral legacies, freedom struggles, and the enduring power of love and community.

Widely respected as both an artist and a freedom worker, Kgositsile has played a central role in Detroit’s cultural and academic life for more than fifty years. She has been active in the African American liberation movement, taught generations of students, and mentored young writers and activists. In 2019, she was named the Kresge Eminent Artist, honoring her extraordinary contributions as a poet, essayist, educator, and human rights advocate.

In this poetry collection, Kgositsile reflects on the role of poetry as sustenance and witness, writing: “Poetry allows us to carry memory into the future, to make space for healing, to imagine a circle that holds us all.”

With this publication, Third World Press continues its nearly sixty-year mission to amplify essential Black voices, nurture literacy, and ensure that literature rooted in liberation and justice reaches broad audiences.

For You, This Circle: Collected Poems is available now through Third World Press Foundation and select booksellers.

The book is available online at Third World Press Foundation.
